We’re in the middle of moving our website to a new hosting plan, so you may find a lot of broken links and other things not quite working over the next 24 hours as we wait for things to transfer over.

Thanks for your patience.

John Moore’s Movember Madness

What do you call a Pepper with a moustache? “Gone off,” usually, but in this case the answer’s actually John.

Pepper singer John Moore has been taking part in Action Prostate Cancer’s Movember fund-raiser. So far he’s raised an impressive amount of money with his colleagues in Corks Winebar. To celebrate his achievement — and to raise some more cash before the month is out — John is holding a night of music, mayhem and mooching in the Becks, Kilmoon on Saturday 27th November. All are welcome. Especially if they’ve got money.

Hope to see you there.

UPDATE, Dec 2nd: Bad weather meant we had to cancel this little event, but we’ll be looking to reschedule it ASAP. Sorry all.

Video Roundup

In case you haven’t been paying attention to our Facebook page or YouTube channel (and shame on you if that’s the case), here’s a few of the recent additions we’ve put up there. We’ve been trawling through our archives — our attic, actually — to dig a few of these out, and some go back a fair few years so apologies for the video and sound quality on some of them. But we hope you enjoy seeing some young versions of familiar faces.

A Letter from ARC

Some excerpts from a letter sent by Gráinne Barnett, Director of Fundraising at ARC:

What a great night “Salt & Pepper” put on recently in aid of ARC, a true legacy in memory of Josephine too. The group had me hopping all over the place and they certainly captured the audience…they were brilliant, so well done.

We in ARC are delighted with such a generous amount from your fundraising night — you are all true legends.

Thank you for thinking of ARC, for without people like you, your family and friends, ARC would not be in a position to support men and women living with cancer.

A Visit to ARC House

Today we paid a visit to ARC House on Eccles Street to donate the proceeds from our recent HELP! fundraiser, which came to a total of €900. ARC provides holistic support services that complement traditional medical treatment with education and psychological care for all those affected by cancer. All of its services are provided free of charge, which is why every donation ARC receives — whether it be in the form of money or a volunteer’s time — is so important.

ARC’s Director of Fundraising Gráinne Barnett was kind enough to show us some of the facilities ARC offers. Perhaps the most important thing they provide is a friendly ear, someone to talk to, someone to listen. But as well as this one-to-one counselling, ARC also provides relaxation classes, Tai-Chi massage and reflexology, all in a welcoming, calming environment.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Gráinne for her time, and also once again thank everyone who donated towards this amazing cause. Further information about ARC can be found on their website,

HELP! on YouTube

Some videos from our last show HELP! — which raised over €850 for ARC Cancer Support — are now available on our YouTube channel. And just to give you a quick sample, here’s From Me To You:

DVDs of the show will be available soon.

HELP! raises €855 for ARC

Salt & Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band’s latest charity event HELP! last night raised €855 for ARC Cancer Support. A huge thank you goes out to all who took part and contributed their time and talent, from musicians and singers to camera operators, DJs and cowbell players, as well as those who donated so generously on the night. We’d also like to thank Hyland Jewellers, Kelly’s Bar and Conway’s Chemist for providing raffle prizes, and the Fox’s Den, Ashbourne for providing the venue.
